Metropolis is portrayed as a vast open world in which you can fly anywhere and complete any side mission anytime. You can also use a lamppost as a club by tearing it down. You can also pick up objects to throw at villains, such as the Daily Planet globe and tanker trucks. Combat is done through melee (you learn new combos as you progress through the game) and direct application of Superman’s heat vision and freeze breath. Superman does not take any damage, which is unusual for this genre, and all of the challenges revolve around saving others from harm.
You have constant access to Superman’s abilities, such as heat vision, freeze breath, invulnerability, and supersonic flight, though the latter is limited by a stamina bar. You pilot the man as he flies around Metropolis, saving citizens and fighting natural disasters, fires, and supervillains. The film Superman Returns is based on the same name.
